Eros
Desire , Pleasure Principle
My practice focuses on creating visual narratives that explore the conflict between individual happiness and expectations of society. My work features animal as a metaphor of human desire and symbol to represent social issue of our current society.
I look at the sources of pleasure and its psychological trajectory through Freudian theory, mainly drawing on the 1920 essay Beyond the Pleasure Principle and 1929 book Civilization and its Discontents. I use the imagery of bondage to represent the struggle between pleasure, pain and social pressure that surround contemporary life.
